Learn more about your pay

What you need to know

Unless you have a signed individual pay agreement, then you’re covered by the Hair and Beauty Award (2010). This Award has lots of different rates of pay, based on your age, years of experience, and qualification. These rates are a legal requirement and must be followed by your employer.

So how do you know what’s the correct pay rate for you? We have provided a guide and definitions for each pay range to help you confirm your correct rate. This also includes extra loading for working overtime, during your RDO’s and on weekends and public holidays.

Qualified with a Certificate 3

If you have qualified hairdressing with a Certificate 3 then you fall into this category of pay. Here you will find the pay rates for full time, part time and casual employment.

Junior

If you are aged under the age of 18 there are specific pay rates that apply to ages 18, 17, 16 and under.

Trainee & Apprentices

If you are an apprentice under the age of 21, here are the pay rates that apply to you.

Adult Apprentice

If you are an apprentice that starts your apprenticeship at 21 years of age these pay rates apply to you.
