Next week is Melbourne Cup Day… and the start of the busiest season of the year for hair stylists. 😰 School formals, weddings, Christmas, races – everyone needs their hair and makeup done, and they want it done right.
Some of you may remember that Melbourne Cup Day actually used to be a paid public holiday for all hair stylists! Unfortunately, in 2011, it was scrapped, and barely anybody even noticed. Cup Day was whipped out from under us, and penalty rates are next – but this time, HSA is here to fight back.
So this Melbourne Cup Day, while we’re all working hard on making our clients look fab, HSA wants all stylists to show that we #demandrespect for our trade. We’re asking everyone to show their support by wearing pink lipstick (the pinker the better!) and spreading the word about HSA on Facebook and Instagram.
It’s a small, simple gesture, but if you show your support, then we know the more of us who band together this holiday season, the louder our message will be! Get behind our fight to protect hair stylists’ entitlements, and our mission to #demandrespect for the hair styling trade. 💄 We’ve seen how powerful social media can be and with enough support, we know we can do this.
So get your workmates on board, snap that selfie with your best lippy and be sure to tag us with #demandrespect and #HSA on your socials so we can find you and share your pic on our page! And if you’ve got some great clients, tell them too – we’ve already got some of our non-stylist supporting getting the word out. 📣
If you’re keen to do more in your salon, we’d love to help! Reach out to us and we’ll give you all the stuff you need to get HSA’s message out there, and help educate hair stylists on their rights.
